JazzGenesis: San Francisco and the Birth of Jazz is the latest initiative related to National Black Business Month, a five-year-old observance geared to increae entrepreneurship among African-Americans.
The four-panel exhibition has been placed in the Visitor Information Center of the San Francisco Convention & Visitor Bureau. San Francisco, one of the world's top tourist destination, has a relatively unknown set of African-American heritage destinations.
The co-founder of National Black Business Month created JazzGenesis, which describes the role that 19th century black businesses in San Francisco played in the creation of jazz music. It describes a period from 1850 to 1921.
