LANDIKOTAL : Reacting to Barack Obama’s election as new US president, Taliban said that the new US president should bring an end to fighting and begin a new era of peace in the world.

Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf while talking to AIP said: “We want to tell the world and the West to pull out their troops from Afghanistan as the Bush party has lost the race because of their flawed polices.”

“The US president should bring an end to the continuing era of war and begin a new era of peace,” he said. “We urge the US to call back its troops from Afghanistan,” he said. When asked whether the new US president will pull out troops, he said: “We do not have much expectations. But despite that we will see. If Obama sends more troops to the war-ravaged country, Jihad and resistance will be continued.”

“We will tell them that they have started the fighting and they should bring an end to it by pulling out troops. If it was not done, Afghans will show strong resistance to every foreign occupation.” The spokesman said the new president would only be successful if he discontinued polices of the Bush government or the unrest and anarchy in the world will get worsen.
