Actor Ewan McGregor is to auction one of his best-loved motorcycles for charity.

The Unicef ambassador has donated his one-off bike to raise money for children across the world.

Bidding for the Moto Guzzi California Vintage cycle will begin at just 99p.

Star Wars actor McGregor, 37, said the lucky buyer "will not be disappointed".

The bike enthusiast rode 20,000 miles with fellow Unicef supporter Charley Boorman in their Long Way Round adventure in 2004.

The charity said the bike was perfect for someone looking for the "ultimate Christmas gift".

McGregor said: "It was the first and original white one, the only one of its kind, and one of my favourite bikes.

"I collected this bike from the Moto Guzzi factory in Italy and rode it back to London and I've loved riding it ever since. Whoever wins this bike will not be disappointed."

Designed in 1971 by Italian manufacturer Moto Guzzi, the California was adopted by US police forces.

The eBay auction ends on December 7.
